Topic: I hate what I write

WeirdKid started this discussion 5.2 years ago #2,731

I can't stand what I write. If I see it 1 day after, I just hate it, it's not like I don't agree with what I said... I don't know, I just hate it and feel anxious about what I write. I don't want to see what I write, I feel ashamed of it.

But I love writing too, I've thought about becoming a writer, but... I kind of fear, or, I don't know, I can't just point out the sensation of my writings.

Why is this?

I suspect once you figure out this self hatred thing,a lot of side effects will disappear. This being one of them. This is a personal experience for me as well.

Work on the big picture and this problem will go away. Xoxo

You should do it again. What stopped you?

That SUCKS. Writing is an art,no matter what the content is. You should start again.

Hi, Calamity--
Most adults have forgotten entirely what a child really is. They tell themselves that they are trying to "protect" the child, but often they are really protecting THEMSELVES against their OWN doubts and fears, which by that time have been paved over by conventional behavior such as seeking sex and money, as if having those things would make life OK, and somehow cancel out the doubts and fears. So many children are abused, stiffled, and made to feel guilty by such "well-meaning" adults.

Yes. The poetry of the child is honest. Most adults cannot tolerate honesty, and so have no poetry.

If you wouldn't let people lock you out of a site you wanted to post on, why would you let that stop you writing things you care about? If they didn't get it, why should ignorance be the arbiter?

That's not what I'm asking.

So, if you don't find a way to protect it and continue it, you don't have it. You leverage all kinds of strategy and persistence to continue something impersonal and unreal - but roll over and play dead on your own heart. So that you can blame those people who read your stuff?

Well, you'll know - the difference between what you feel and what you fill your life with. Or maybe you'll forget.

Maybe now is not the right time for you. Maybe someday. :)
