Topic: I'm afraid I'm turning into my father.

Anonymous A started this discussion 6.2 years ago #2,595

While I love my father, I always wanted to be something different from him. He is divorced, but successful, yet lives alone and is active within the community. I grew a mustache similar to him and I'm starting to like it. I am growing up into a lifestyle similar to his but I'm wondering if it's easy-mode or just me being influenced to be complacent. How do I change this? I'm afraid that I'm becoming my father. How do I fix this?

Well, we all have our parents in us and it is inescapable that we will inherit some of their traits etc. Are you for the most part happy with your life? If so I wouldn't worry so much about who you are like. But if you are not happy then maybe evaluate what would make it better. I don't know. I don't mean to tell you what to do because half the time I don't know what I am doing myself.

What are the things you like and dislike about your father and why, I think you
need to ask yourself these questions, and then work look at your life and see if
you are following in his footsteps in areas that you would hate to be like him.
